Three Things Thursday No. 5: Decluttering & Motivation

Howdy!

Well, we made it! The last decade is over, the holidays are fading, and we’re smack dab at the start of a new month, a new year, a whole new decade!! Are you excited? Dang, I am SO excited. I really feel like this year is going to be AWESOME.

I spent New Year’s Day doing some goal setting and planning—I’ve been using a new system and it is working SO well. (If you’re curious about how I set my goals, write back and let me know and I’ll share more about it later this month!)

When I was working on my plan for this month, I was overcome by a feeling of deep power—the certainty that I CAN make things happen in my life if I just do the work. The last few years have had some hard trials, and this year promises to be one of great change and new adventures. Which brings me to our first thing:

Thing 1: Motivation!

I wanted to find a quote for January that really spoke to the power of letting go of the past and committing to a better future. This is what I found:

We all make mistakes, have struggles, and even regret things in our past. But you are not your mistakes, you are not your struggles, and you are here NOW with the power to shape your day and your future.”
— Steve Maraboli

Can you just feel the power of that? I can. This is a NEW year and YOU are a new human. What are you going to do with your power this year?? Leave a comment below and let me know!

Thing 2: Decluttering for Magpies, Part 2

Last week I shared that I was working on a series for decluttering for us natural-born collectors—what I call “magpies.” This week I have the next installment in the series which focuses on this urge to acquire and how we can learn to channel that energy into a more productive way to think about our things.

Curating Instead of Collecting

(If you missed the first post in the series, find it here: Decluttering for Magpies.)

Thing 3: Recommended Decluttering Books

As you may already know (and will definitely find out if you read the decluttering post), I have a fondness for books. Some would say too much. Be that as it may, the good news is that I read A LOT, and so have a list of recommendations on almost any topic. :-) This week I have a list of my favorite decluttering books, why I love them and what they’re best at. Hopefully they will be of use to you!

My Top 5 Favorite Decluttering Books

That’s it!

January is all about fresh starts, fresh spaces and life changes right now, and I’m excited to get moving.

What about you? What big plans do you have for 2020?? Comment below and let me know, or come find me on Facebook or Instagram!

Much love,

Love, Angela

P.S. My motivational quote for January is from the book, Unapologetically You: Reflections on Life and the Human Experience. I haven’t read it, but now I want to!
