raw-edge appliqué
Raw-edge appliqué refers to a type of appliqué where the edges of the applied fabric shapes are left unfinished and exposed. In some cases the edges are given a margin so they will fray and add texture, and in some cases they are sealed with lightweight fusible interfacing as with fused appliqué. This is in contrast to needle-turn appliqué where the edges are turned under.
